ACCOD has implemented projects focused at improving the quality and access to healthcare especially in the rural areas. Most of these projects are focused at improving the infant and maternal healthcare.
Installing solar systems in rural health clinics.
Solar power can make universal Healthcare a reality this can be achieved by;
- PROVIDING ACCESS to solar energy in the rural health facilities.
- ENSURING QUALITY of the solar systems. Quality healthcare requires a dependable source of power
- REDUCING COSTS. Using solar power helps health facilities save money.
- BUILDING RESILIENCE. Solar energy is also contributing to more resilient health systems.
- INVESTING IN SUSTAINABILITY of the solar systems installed in health clinics.
HIV/AIDS CARE AND SUPPORT PROJECTS
In 2018, an estimated 1.4 million people were living with HIV, and an estimated 23,000 Ugandans died of AIDS-related illnesses.1
The epidemic is firmly established in the general population. As of 2018, the estimated HIV prevalence among adults (aged 15 to 49) stood at 5.7%. Women are disproportionately affected, with 8.8% of adult women living with HIV compared to 4.3% of men.
Through our projects we endeavour to contribute to the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS infections through;
- Community awareness campaigns
- Sensitizing youths through school visits
- Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS.
- Conduct home based care and support to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
